| How safe are clone scripts? |

There are everyday scripts on the internet, but many of these scripts are poorly coded and pretty much can be hacked. One popular scriptmaking company is Alstrasoft, they are a maker of very many clone scripts that copy such online service like Commission Junction, Twitter, Pageflakes, and even Youtube. One popular script going around is Alstrasoft's Affiliate Network Pro 8 which is a turnkey clone script of Commission Junction. A very money making script and can make sites popular if used correctly with marketing and other ways. But many of these clone scripts bought anywhere can be hacked and have poor security but lots of features. Is it worth it?
My answer is no. If your going to sell a rich feature script for hundreds of dollars, you better make that script with a lot of features AND secured, because with no security, you site is a open target for hackers to exploit on. Many companies like Alstrasoft create scripts that over exaggerate their features but forget to implement security more with security being more and more important on the internet for websites. If you take a look at the video provided in the article you will see that I have provided a live video recording of the hacked site on a script they created and was to the "Latest Version". I would suggest everyone thinks twice before buying any scripts and make sure that security is good and can be good so your site won't ruin your project or product (if you are selling something). What do you think of Alstrasoft now? You can also see the hacked page on the Affiliate Network Pro demo of Alstrasoft.

About time someone took down those cheap scripts. They aren't even worth hundreds of dollars for those cheap scripts!!

That is pretty funny. I'm surprised they still haven't done anything about it. It just shows how crappy their support for their own products are!

How did this happen? I was seriously about to buy Affiliate Network Pro in a while until I saw this, I won't get it until they make their security features better than that! So far I am not impressed with Alstrasoft anymore...

Hope they bring that up soon, wouldn't do good for them anyway since they have very bad support and create a lot of BullS*** so they wont have to "refund" your money back if you have a problem with your script.

Really you can use them. It is recommended you CHMOD your files to the right permission and also protect and deny permission on files that only admin can access. Your not in risk of getting hacked because your not a target (why would hackers target you?), just be careful on the security side. This was a warning on some scripts.
