SmartFTP FTP uploading and downloading is critical for some webmasters who need to have easy access and fast access at the same time when they are in a rush with their websites. It's no wonder that many webmasters that I have talked to haven't heard of a neat program named SmartFTP to upload, download, and manage files in your FTP the fast and easy way. SmartFTP has many features that allow you to also run commands (if you know how to) straight from the FTP browser simply by right clicking your file(s) and selecting or putting a custom command. One of the neat things I also like about SmartFTP is the fact that it can have multiple FTP browsers at the same time without having to logout and login to have to do something, you can simply switch tabs (similar to Firefox) and can open or simply close opened tabs, a must speed work for some webmasters. There are lots of features included with SmartFTP, I will try to pinpoint the important and used mostly features.
Another feature that is included in the free version (yes there are different versions), is the ability of Cache Remote Directories which means if you delete a file, you have a Cached file version on your computer. This is important because sometimes we all work a little too fast and we accidently delete a file that we really need and need a backup (there is also a backup tool included in case) to restore the file. The other great thing that is a tad bit important to me is the way the FTP browser looks like and how it shows files to you. There are different ways to show your FTP files in all because none of us want a file to be shown at a time, that would suck for us who have more than 10,000+ files. Also for those who have a lot of files to upload one after another and have no time to drag and drop, there are alternate solutions for that. There is a feature called Transfer Queue that allows us to do file Scheduling, as well as Uploads/Downloads/FXP. If you need to fix any files right on the spot you can simply right click the file you need to edit, and an editor will open (for example, PHP files will open with notepad) and you can make the important edit then save and in a couple of seconds (or hours depending on how much you need to edit) you will be able to edit on the spot, without downloading, waiting for the download to finish, then making the change. No more of that long process. I urge users (and webmasters especially) to use SmartFTP as a means to upload and manage files on their computer. To get a better understanding of what I mean about SmartFTP you should try SmartFTP out for yourself. Be sure to check out the SmartFTP website and see features that I have not talked about (cause it's too many :D).
